i learnt to give from then on ,
i had a hard time in secondary schools , i was always getting into troubles , fights and beatings was a regular occurrence .
during my first 3 years , i never had good grades , that was far from my primary school results .
i was in the top 10 every year from primary 4-6 .
everything changed when i entered secondary schools , i was sick of schools and studies ,. i joined gangs , smoke and got tattoos .
fights was a regular occurrence during my days and if that was not enough , i got beaten up back home .
My father was not quite happy with my behaviour .
i finally got posted to a neighbourhood school after 3 hellish years in a top school .
i was arrested for rioting , flunk my exams , got transferred to another secondary schools all at the same time .
i was deeply traumatized by it .
while i was in lock up , i think thru the whole night and told myself my life is not going to be like this for decades to come by .
i reflected deeply that night in the cell . i decide to change myself .
while i was in the new secondary school , i studied hard and eventually got all ACE for my exams , i quit gangs but not smoking though. the day when i collected the results , everyone was pleasantly surprised . straight Ace for N levels .
i was awarded edusave scholarships from MOE .
my mum and i went to collect the award , i was on stage with my ah beng attitude .
the funny part was when we went back home .
while on the way home , there was no expression on my mum's face , it was then i found out my mum don't really bother about my results .
No matter Ace or Fs , she loved me for who i am .
I was her only Son . she spent her days worrying about me when i hang out with my gangs , whether i went hungry anot ?
after N levels , i went out to work immediately to help out with the house's finance . i got enlisted into NS after which and came back to the work force from then on .
My present - ????
i got all Ace for PSLE results , including higher Chinese , i did her proud then .
i got all Ace for N levels again , i realized something this time round ......................................
i thought i did her proud when i Ace for PSLE but only to realize she loved me a lot even though i flunk my results for 3 years , gotten into police troubles and finally getting Ace again for my N levels .
U learn something everytime u give ...
i wanted to gift her my results but only to find out she really loves me a lot .
i spent most of my nights reflecting everyday's life most of my days .
ya , i left schools but i loved reading .
i picked up reflection while i was in lock up .
i picked up reading when i started out in the new secondary school .
i thought of giving present to my mum only to realize i got the greatest gift of all time - LOVE .
