Our Charity Distribution journey began unexpectedly in 2020 at the beginning of Covid-19. At that time, there weren't enough masks to go around, so we started off by distributing cloth masks for people free at waterloo street. We also distributed rice there on another occasion. It was met with an overwhelming response.

As Covid-19 continued and people become economically challenged, we moved into fortnightly distribution of good quality frozen vegetables such as brussels sprouts, mixed vegetables, hash browns, sweet corn, broccoli and cauliflower to needy in rental flats. In each distribution, a few thousand kilograms of vegetables were given to the needy. All these were possible because of our committed and hardworking volunteers and reliable logistic providers who have to move many heavy cartons during each distribution.

About 3 to 4 full pallets of frozen vegetables are taken from cold storage for distribution to the needy each distribution

The distribution of frozen vegetables would not have been possible without the collaboration of various charitable groups, temples and organizations each supported by their own team of dedicated volunteers who know and regularly assist those in need within their communities. Some of these groups cooked for their needy recipients, while others coordinated local outreach in their area.

Charity organizations such as Krsna Free Meals, Singapore Buddhist Welfare Services etc. cooked the frozen vegetables for their beneficiaries

Amie One focused on the timely logistics — ensuring the vegetables were delivered to their respective locations on time. On our side, a small but committed team of volunteer car drivers and logistics helpers worked tirelessly, rain or shine, to separately transport cartons of frozen vegetables and staples such as flour, rice and canned vegetables to their assigned blocks of flats or charity groups as well.

The coming together of all these volunteers and resources in the right time and place is certainly not coincidential. The heartfelt dedication of all these volunteers stands as a beautiful reminder of how, when we think less or ourselves and more for others, our human virtues and compassion will be allowed to emanate and we will be willing to pool our resources together to truly make a difference to our society, country and world.

Post-covid-19, our work of distributing of canned vegetables and staple food to the needy in rental flats continues with the help from our dedicated driver volunteers every fortnight.
