Freeze Dried Fruits & Vegetables Chips

Freeze-dried Fruits and Vegetable Chips are a healthier and more nutritious alternative to conventionally produced snacks, which go through a high temperature process such as baking or frying. Compared to other conventional methods of drying such as hot air drying, freeze-dried products has better nutrient retention.

BENEFITS OF FREEZE-DRYING TECHNOLOGY

Low Temperature Processing
Freeze drying is a low temperature dehydration process1 that involves freezing the product and lowering pressure, thereby removing the ice by sublimation.2 This is in contrast to dehydration by most conventional methods that evaporate water using heat.3 Because of the low temperature used in processing1, the rehydrated product retains many of its original qualities.

Improved nutrient retention
Compared to air drying, freeze drying improved retention of anthocyanins, phenolics, and antioxidant activity during processing of regular versus organic blueberries and raspberries, and in some cases it even increased the concentration of phytochemicals.4 Freeze drying also preserved total phenolics in marionberries, strawberries, and corn better than air drying.5 Freeze-drying is the best drying method to keep the nutritional value, antioxidant activity and sensory properties of fruits.6
