Freedom with love
What is freedom? According to Cambridge dictionary, it means:
1. the condition or right of being able or allowed to do, say, think, etc. whatever you want to, without being controlled or limited:
2. a right to act in the way you think you should:
3. the state of not being in prison:
4. to honour someone by giving them special rights in a particular city:
So what does it actually mean?
In recent years, lots of people have been very vocal about human rights, their freedom to speech, their freedom to choose what they want to do to their body/ sexuality etc.
To me, freedom means the free will to do/ say something WITHIN safe boundaries. It also means making wise choices and bearing consequences to my own actions. It’s not just about me. It’s also about my love ones, people I care…
Imagine if everyone and every countries are given true freedom, making selfish decisions based on their own wishes, wouldn’t the world be a very chaotic place to live in?
Freedom is not just an individual choice but also a collective effort to keep this planet/ country/ home safe. It’s never just just about me.
For example, the ozone depletion in late 1970s, Ozone depletion and the ozone hole have generated worldwide concern over increased cancer risks and other negative effects. These concerns led to the adoption of the Montreal Protocol in 1987, which bans the production of CFCs, halons, and other ozone-depleting chemicals. 1st time that almost 200 nations come together as 1, agreeing to ban all CFCs products. And now the ozone layer is on its way to healing, will most likely be repaired by 2075.
Imagine if everyone is to think “who cares? It’s none of my business. I have my rights and freedom to choose whatever product I want to use, as long it’s cheap and serve its purpose”.
The same concept applies to going green, sustainability etc
So let’s be responsible, and exercise freedom wisely, within boundaries, in the name of LOVE for humans and this only planet. Else in generations, there wont be a home for anyone anymore…
